Machine Room Supervisor
Summary/Objective:
Train, supervise, and place employees in positions in order to move production of parts through the
Rough Mill in accordance with the schedule. Dry all lumber from green to dry.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Six plus employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train/retrain all employees in operational duties, safety standards, and quality standards as needed.
- Supervise employees to safely meet or exceed production quotas and quality standards daily. This includes assignment of employees to appropriate positions in department based on day’s scheduling requirements.
- Set-up idle machinery for next operator, create cutlists for the ultimizer cutoff system, bulk in lumber to help get HOT items pushed through, periodically grease the balestrini profile shaper.
- Act as Shipping and receiving clerk at the tenth street dock, shipping and receiving product to and from our other facilities.
- Survey, account for, and report location of all parts in department daily.
- Check dry kiln area moisture content and make adjustments accordingly to ensure desired moisture content. This includes periodic Saturday and Sunday checks to ensure there are no mechanical failures of the dry kiln.
- Coach and counsel employees to resolve performance issues, complete performance evaluations periodically, and take disciplinary action in accordance with Company policies as needed.
Interview applicants and assist in hiring decisions as needed.
Check time cards for accuracy daily.

Qualifications:
Professional License/Specialized Training
Two weeks of dry kiln training.
Experience: The amount of experience needed to perform the essential duties and responsibilities:
Supervisory experience and 5-10 years of machining/mill experience.
Education: The education or equivalent experience required/preferred to perform the essential duties and responsibilities:
Skills/Competencies: Skill/Competencies required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities:
Ability to read many measuring devices. Ability to read a moisture meter. Ability to set-up all machines quickly and accurately. Supervisory ability. Dry kiln knowledge.
Equipment: The equipment operated and/or programs used to perform the essential duties and responsibilities:
Utilize computerized DOSS system to create cutlists and send to system.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. This position is Medium work and employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision acuity, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work is subject to extreme heat with temperatures up to 100 for periods of more than 8 hours and noise which is sufficient to cause shouting in order to be heard.
