SUMMARY
The Licensed Nurse will implement the necessary interventions to support the infection prevention and performance improvement activities of the organization. The Licensed Nurse will assist with quality reviews and data analysis to identify areas of improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gathers and reports data on patient and employee infections.
- Monitors the Home Care Program and The Residence for potential infection spreading practices.
- Assists with the implementation of the Infection Prevention Program including all needed documentation.
- Monitors status of employees who have suffered exposures.
- Submits revisions to Patient Safety, Quality and Infection Prevention Committee (PSDQ as needed.
- Writes an annual report addressing the infections rates and TB conversion rates of staff.
- Participates in New Employee Orientation and Volunteer Trainings to provide TB and HEP B and Fit testing to attendees.
- Remains current with CDC guidelines, infection control research and practices; provides staff with information as applicable.
- Organizes and implements mandatory infection control in-services.
- Participates in Performance Improvement program via monthly reports of patient and employee infections; submits as needed.
- Assists with quality reviews, comprises data and participates in quality and improvement initiatives.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
- Attends mandatory agency in-services, all staff, and support staff meetings as available.
- Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist with emergency planning activities and evaluations.
- Other duties may also be assigned.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
The agency requires this position is required to complete 15 hours of continuing education per year covering topics that will contribute to improvements in carrying out the above responsibilities. Regulatory agencies may require some disciplines to have additional hours in order to be licensed or certified.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Licensed Nurse with a current Tennessee nursing license. Minimum of two years experience/exposure to infection prevention and record reviews. Knowledge of or willingness to learn hospice care. Minimum of two years nursing practice or equivalent experience required. Hospice and/or Home Health experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and apply data theories and concepts of professional clinical journals, texts and treatment plans. Ability to write documentation, which accurately depicts the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Able to write policy/procedure and professional correspondence to various healthcare entities. Ability to calmly, maturely and effectively communicate, educate and build a rapport with patients, families, other healthcare professionals and community members.

Current TN Nursing License. If required to drive to carry out the duties of this position: current driver's license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee State Law.
